π§ BaroCompass
Compass with barometer + GPS altitude
FAQ
Why does the app need location access?
True-north heading, coordinates and GPS altitude come from Location Services. Location data never leaves your device.
Why does the app ask for Motion & Fitness access?
iOS gates barometer data behind Motion & Fitness. Granting it enables pressure readings, barometric altitude and relative change.
Why does the altitude differ from maps or other apps?
GPS altitude carries a few meters of error depending on satellite geometry, and barometric altitude drifts with weather. The app shows both sources with their accuracy so you can cross-check.
The compass is stuck or inaccurate β what can I do?
Move away from magnets, magnetic cases and large metal objects, wave the phone in a figure-8 to recalibrate, and enable Compass Calibration in system Settings.
Which devices are supported?
Requires an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Barometric altitude needs a barometer (iPhone 6 and later); system-calibrated absolute altitude needs iPhone 12 or later.
